Fellow Industrial Designers, it is time to review your last 2 years of work and consider entering a project into this years DIA design award - Object category. It has been a few years since we have seen a good number of ID projects entered so now has never been a better time to promote your self and your work. (Please note that you do not have to be a member to enter)
A movie you should keep an eye out for is Objectified. According to the website;
"Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability."
I haven't seen this movie as yet but would very much like the opportunity to do so. It was created by Gary Huswit who also created the doco film Helvetica. If you have any further information on this film, please let DCOSA know.
Hi Everyone, The second ID catch up is being held next Monday July 27. Please put it in your diaries and pass on the details to any Industrial Designers that are not on this list. We will be meeting at Sparrow, O’Connell St North Adelaide from 6:00 and dishing out some valuable info on 2009/2010 design competitions and exhibitions. Cheers, look forward to seeing you all.
Industrial Design Served - Here is a nice little page to see some work from around the world and show off your own designs. Each design appears to have its own sub-page but apart from that it seems nice a simple and too the point. Enjoy.
